Thank you for visiting NYC Mesh's table at Brooklyn Pride! This email to being sent to everyone who filled out our interest form at the event.
We're glad you took a moment to visit our table and show interest in getting involved with the mesh.
Learning about NYC Mesh:
To learn more about the mesh, we suggest visting our website nycmesh.net for the basics, along with our Documentation on our WiKi. This provides a general overview of how NYC Mesh works and answers some of the most common questions in our FAQ.
For those interested in getting their home / apartment connected to the mesh:
The first step of joining the mesh is filling out our Join Form at nycmesh.net/join. This will get your install on our map and we'll reply with instruction on the next steps.
We offer both volunteer led (similar to a typical home internet install) or DIY (purchase and install the equipment yourself, with help from us) install paths.

For folks interested in volunteering:
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with NYC Mesh! Here's the first steps you can take to get involved:
- Join our Slack – Slack is our main form of communication. Once you’re in Slack, check out #new-volunteer-onboarding channel.
- Every Tuesday 7pm - late(ish) at 53 Bridge St, Unit 509, Brooklyn. Open Mesh Night is our weekly event to discuss current projects, meet other volunteers, and hangout in the mesh room.
- Register your interest and skills by completing our short form.
- Attend a new volunteer onboarding session. Not required to volunteer, you can also just show up :)
NYC Mesh is a very decentralized organization, so generally you are welcome to show up and get involved however you'd like. The options above are suggest, but are also optional.
The main step to starting volunteering is joining the slack, as everything is planned in there.
